Ross Lenta has been a standout of the San Diego Ultimate scene for over a decade. He started his career at San Diego State University (SDSU) in 2002 where he revived a long dormant program. He quickly earned the nickname “Rookie” from older members of the San Diego community for the immediate impact he made on the field coupled with his eagerness to play Ultimate at any opportunity.

Ross is a dominating downfield cutter with a ceaseless motor. The only thing that moves faster than his legs, is his sizable brain. At a young age, doctors indeed worried that his brain might be too big for his own good. But, he’s proved all those know-it-all MDs wrong and has managed to harness that brain power and convert it into a dangerously high Ultimate IQ.

Ross captained SDSU from 2002-2004 and then stayed with the program to coach from 2005-2007. Ross played with PBR Streetgang for the 2005 and 2006 seasons and attended Club Nationals both years. He then captained another San Diego open team, Last Call, for the 2007 and 2008 seasons and was an integral part of the re-formation of Streetgang in 2009. His play and leadership propelled StreetgangĀ to back-to-back Club National berths in 2009 and 2010. Ross captained Streetgang in 2011 before taking some time to focus on his professional career as a Clinical Researcher at Illumina and getting married to his wonderful wife Tenise. The Growlers are lucky to have a player with Ross’ experience and skill set joining them in 2015.
