Kevin “Dollar” Smith has signed with the Growlers for the 2017 Season.  With two AUDL Championships in his back pocket from 2014 and 2015, this crafty thrower and seasoned veteran will be making his triumphant return back to San Diego where his ultimate career started.

Kevin played at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) from 2001-2006 and qualified for College Nationals three times during that time. He also coached the UCSD men’s team from 2008-2010, leading the team to College Nationals twice.  From 2008-2010, Kevin was an impact player for San Diego Streetgang, leading the squad to Club Nationals in 2009 and 2010.  He moved to the bay area in 2011 and began playing with the mixed club team Mischief.  Captaining the team since 2012, they have qualified for Club Nationals 7 times, earned a Silver medal at the 2013 US Open, and brought home a Bronze medal from the 2015 Pan-American Ultimate Championships.

His pro career began as a member of the San Francisco Dogfish (MLU) in 2013 by finishing second in the league.  Kevin then signed on as a player/coach of the San Jose Spiders and won back to back AUDL Championships in 2014 and 2015.  In his three seasons with the SJ Spiders, Kevin had 113 assists (15th all-time), 20 goals, 27 defensive blocks, and many highlight reel hammers.  The Growlers are beyond excited to welcome Kevin’s leadership, experience, and big play-making ability back to San Diego!
